case study Restaurateur Luc van Oostende appointed SHW to design the kitchen and bar for his new outlet, with this being his first venture outside of his native Belgium where he has opened some sixteen other restaurants and currently has Cafe Theatre in Ghent. Cafe Luc is managed by his daughter Julie van Oostende, herself a graduate of the most famous hotel school in the world. Open for breakfast through to dinner and serving a mid morning menu as well as afternoon tea and serving a modern European brasserie style menu including classic French and Mediterranean foods, the restaurant also provides a wide choice of Belgian beers, both bottle and draught, as well as a fine selection of wines including four varieties on draught. The restaurant has 150 covers incorporating seating at the bar and the architecture and interior design was undertaken by Stiff & Travillion. The Dining room at Ground Floor is served by a multi function kitchen within the basement where space was at a premium The restaurant has received acclaim from a number of the influential food critics and is fast becoming one of London’s sought after eateries. professional team
